I am a 21 year old who loves acting, singing, dancing and fashion. I love having fun and meeting new people. Smile, It's Contagious.
Hi, I'm Alyssa. I'm twenty one years old and live in Atlanta. I love music, the beach, Christmas lights, bonfires, swimming at midnight and driving with the windows down; but most of all I love performing.
When I was just 8 months old, I became very sick, but the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. At 14 months old I was diagnosed with leukemia and Aspergers. While I was in the hospital I would spend my time singing and dancing in the halls: the doctors thought I was crazy to be so happy when l was so sick, but they loved the affect it had on the other patients. After many prayers, the doctors did another test and found that the cancer had completely disappeared.
It wasn’t until I turned fourteen that I gained enough courage to go onstage for a singing competition and even though I was terrified I told myself that if I didn’t, I would regret it. Boy was I right! From that moment on I was hooked on performing. I turned up at my local Radio Disney station’s events so often that they made me an honorary volunteer. I joined the drama club at school, got a job as a Hannah Montana impersonator and began to win at singing competitions.
I began conquering my stage fright during my Junior year when I started going out for open casting calls and auditions. I did a few indie projects and I started my own production company. In senior year I shoved my stage fright aside and joined my school’s musical (in a lead role) and landed a lead role in a video series that was shown all over the world. After graduation, I started to pursue my career further by working on shows like Vampire Diaries and One Tree Hill, as well as creating two of my own film projects. I recently began taking dance, voice and acting lessons.
Sometimes my chosen career path can be a challenge, especially with Aspergers, but I’ve learned that if you stay positive and true to yourself, that big things can happen. A smile can change the world.
